In this discussion on the pros and cons of humanitarian intervention, volunteers examine human rights, economic sanctions, international law and wars waged in the name of humanity. Leading the discussion is Dr Philip Cunliffe, lecturer in international conflict and co-convenor of the Sovereignty And Its Discontents (SAID) working group. Philip argues that historically humanitarian intervention has done more harm than good and this is no mere accident since the problem lies with the idea itself.
