Young disabled members and volunteers at HAFAD (Hammersmith and Fulham Action for Disability) reveal the obstacles they still come up against. Kimme tells us how, after gaining employment as a local youth worker he was told he would only be paid as a general assistant. Esme Young, a worker at HAFAD, says; “they have aspirations, they don’t just want to learn the basics.” This first-hand report presents fresh insights and testimony to the aspirations of young people with disabilities who want opportunities and equal treatment not pity and platitudes. This report was filmed and created by volunteers on an outreach film training day arranged by WORLDwrite. If your organisation youth or community group would like to produce a joint report that challenges existing ideas or policy for viewing across the web get in touch with the WORLDbytes crew.
