WISE Girl Award: Sara Zaidi

Having battled with acute leukaemia, Sara developed a keen interest in science, especially cancer research. Completely independently, Sara sought out a relevant research project and at the age of 14 completed a project to design a novel cancer treatment, for which she which she won a prize at the National Science and Engineering Competition and a trip to Phoenix, Arizona, where she represented the UK at the Intel ISEF Competition. She created a STEM-based school magazine and has written a book “Tom goes to the doctor” for children suffering from cancer.

This interview was filmed and edited by WORLDbytes volunteers for the WISE (Women in Science Technology & Engineering) 2014 Awards night and screened to an audience of over 500 including HRH the Princess Royal who presented the trophies.
