David Perks is the Principal of East London Science School. In his contribution to the Freedom Babbleon, David decries the stunning silence in the UK education community following the murder of French schoolteacher Samuel Paty. Despite freedom of expression and free speech being part of the core values teachers are supposed to teach, David explains that most in the profession now avoid saying anything for fear of invoking a response or accusation of Islamophobia. He urges educationalists to stand up for free speech and for us all to back teachers who do.
